Crybabies...

Allow me to vent. I am not going to provide links, footnotes, or any other "evidence" to back up my belief here -- I've just got something to get off my chest.

In light of recent news headlines such as "Attacks on Alito Unfair" and "Democrats Dumb to Make Alito's Wife Cry" (which, by the way, is a wonderful example of conservative maturity), it appears some people just don't get the importance of confirmation hearings.

So what some uber-privileged out-of-touch rich, white woman was crying (have her life on minimum wage for a year to put things in perspective - shit, have her live on day as a black woman in America)? Who really cares? There are millions of people crying out of pure desparation around the globe due to the abhorent conditions they live in. People who make less in a year than it takes to fill up the gas tank in a Suburban. People who have to provide for their families with less money than Mrs. Alito spends on an appointment at the hairstylist. Less money than Mr. Alito pays for a blowjob. Oops, my bad, he probably goes to common crack whores for discount head. (I realize the last comment was out of line, unfounded, a shot to my credibility, and about as mature as the conservativenews.org headline quoted above.)

The fact that some Republicans are crying claims of "unfair" is ludicrous. The end result of these confirmation hearings is to appoint a judge to the bench of the Supreme Court of the United States of America for LIFE! How can you fail to see the importace of this?! Millions of lives will be directly affected by this one event. So, if some tough questions are asked during the process of ascertaining if this individual is up to the monumental position of responsibility at hand, good!

Unfair would be the line of questioning endured by the detainees being illegally held at Guantanamo Bay (how long have they been there? And in this time, exactly how many high level arrests and/or foiled terrorist plots have resulted as the direct result of such? Oh, yeah -- NONE!)

Unfair are the interrogations black people in America have to undergo every time they go shopping, drive a car "out of their price range," or take a walk/drive through an "exclusive" neighborhood.

For some reason, I have a sneaking suspicion that this is a ploy designed to distract the attention from where it needs to be directed. I thought this as soon as I saw Mrs. Alito's pitiful mug plastered on the cover of Friday's USA Today.

The fact that the media focuses on a lady crying because her husband was part of a racist, sexist organization and is being called on it rather than focusing on the fact that he was part of a racist, sexist organization is just ridiculous, although it fits right in with Chomsky's Propaganda Model. We urgently need to get all Republicans out of power. If they don't participate in this, they are at least silent while their colleagues do this and don't speak out against it.

Gosh Bunky, They're attacking our right to live an elitist lifestyle in a gated community again!

"I cried because I had no shoes, until I saw a man with no feet." Well, there's none of that rifraff around here, I can tell you, and if there was, I just wouldn't look! And I still have no shoes dammit, so something must be done! Call Nieman Marcus!

Damn those heartless liberal bastards! they made a member of the privileged class cry! Will they stop at nothing? Next thing you know, they'll invade a sovereign nation or turn the yacht club at Newport into a wildlife refuge!
